The Incredible Hulk

The movie saga based on comics don’t die down, this is the Hulk turn! Another Marvel superhero is came back with The Incredible Hulk by Louis Leterrier. This is the second movie based on the comics realized on 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby – the first movie was by Ang Lee on 2003 – and tells the Bruce Banner’s story (played by Edward Norton) who hunts for a cure to his alter ego, the green giant Hulk. In the same time General Thunderbolt Ross seeks to capture Bruce and eliminate him. In the story another Marvel superhero gets in: Tony Stark / Iron Man, who was recently on the theaters with the movie by Jon Favreau, is looking for Banner to help him. In the meantime Blondky trasforms himself in
Abomination thanks to a special drug, wainting for the final fight. The presence of different superheroes of the same publishing house (as Hulk and Iron Man) is a clichè of comics that helps the popularity of the characters: in this way Iron Man too can live again in the Hulk’s movie as Goldrake and Devilman fought in the same screen. More than Iron Man presence (played by Robert Downey Jr), there are the cameos of the comics author, Stan Lee, and Lou Ferrigno.
CGI Eroes
The creation of Hulk was complex: the green superhero was made totally with CGI techology, starting from
the study of original comics. The visual effects were made by Rhythm & Hues. The Visual Effects Supervisor was Kurt Williams (Fantastic Four, X Men: the Last Stand). They concentrated the work in particular on the skin veining and the skin colour. With the Motion Capture the body moviments were digitally recorded and transfered to a digital creature. The mo-cap was used for the Hulk and also for Abomination
character and it made the movements more natural during the tranformations of the muscles and the vascular structure. The trasformation of Hulk begins with change of the eyes colour, as in the tv series, played by Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, that made Hulk popular in the Eighties. The Motion Capture today has evolved to the point where rendered times are very short and you can target a performance and see immediately if it’s the right dynamic.
