The film is now released in Italy, 21 years after the Japanese released, thanks to Lucky Red distribution. The movie has been produced by the company founded by Miyazaki and his collegue Isao Takahata in 1985 and it tells the story of the meeting between two sisters, Satsuki and Mei, and Totoro, an imaginary creature who represents the spirit of the forest. The sisters and their father have moved to totoro3the countryside to get near to the mother who is at the hospital. In the new home and countryside, Satsuki and Mei live new adventures in which we can see universal and recurring values in the Miyazaky movies, such as the respect for nature, altruism, the importance of family. An extraordinary movie that after 20 years is still relevant, full of poetry, able to astonish the audience, kids and grow-up people.
