Sotto 5
Future Film Festival in the occasion of its seventh edition (January 19th- 23rd 2005) produced for Sky five shorts by young Italian directors. The shorts are all about science fiction and everyone has different approach: ironic, thoughtful or original. The shorts have been shown as preview during FFF2005 and they have been insert in the Sky’s tv program.
Here a short description of the Sotto 5 shorts:
06/08/2045: Life on Mars? by Andrea Castellani (5′, animation)
A short spaceship is moving quickly in the space to a red planet, perhaps Mars. The pilot visits the planet examining the components. Every find causes a vision about how it was the planet before. The last object is a clock that marks the date: 06/08/2045. The alien spaceman leaves the planet and continues his trip with his spaceship, while the audience realizes that the planet was the Hearth, now deserted.
Binary Love by Mario Bellina (5′, live action and special effects)
Two young man talk in a futurist chat about loves and interstellar jealousy with Martian girlfriends and treasons. In this short the use of a lot of boxes to tell a ironic story in the original using of special effects.
Kosmos by Bruno Perrone (5′, live action and special effects)
A man and a woman dressed with white cloths, look the Cosmos and the Hearth, hearing a vibration that seems to come from the depth of Universe. They start a dialogue about the world. Suddenly the characters smile, they turn off the projector and the stereo, go back to the natural light and to the day life. The audience find out that
they aren’t in an “afterworld condition” but in a “relax room”.

A man dressed by rag clothes predicts in vain the end of the world by Martians. In the evening, when the street is desert, the man is taken by a bright ray of a flying saucer and he interacts with Martians which reveal to him their reasons for the hostility against the human race. The day after the man, in this case dressed in an elegant way and shaved, is in the same street asking in vain to talk with ONU and with all the worlwide powers to avoid the end of the Hearth.
White Stable Under Attack by Marco Segato (5′, live action and special effects)
White Stable is a research center, outpost on Mars that has been colonized. A maniple of spacemen make riskly experiments on new transgenic cultivation. But under the land surface of the red planet, a secret is hidden: genetic mutations change an inoffensive parasitic on the terriblest monster. Nobody will be able to resist to its blood thirst. Long and very ironic trailer, the short copies sciencefiction movies realized on ‘50 years with also the gigant monster.
